The works of a researcher who reads the small bronze coins of Adana's soil as historical documents — free and open to everyone. No sales, no ads, no cookies; only a body of work reaching from Cilicia to the world, and the respect it deserves.
Four tabs, one curiosity
Four currents run through Bekircan Tahberer's work. Coins are first of all works of art to him: gods, temples and rivers fitted into a space two centimetres wide. Then comes numismatics — the science of the coin, with its mints, monograms, weights and find-spots. Asklepios, his serpent staff and his temples on the coins lead to the history of medicine. And at every step stands a question of ethics: ancient forgery, treasure hunting, the language in which science is written, whose eyes history is written through.
This site separates those four currents into four tabs, but leaves a door open to the others on every page — because the real work is the bond between them.
